1/20/16 South 39th Council Meeting
Yesterday evening I attended the South 39th Council meeting. It was great to hear what is going in the neighborhood and to hear from our neighbors. The council members provided pizza and punch, an excellent treat. Here is what you missed…
- A Little About the Missoula Council
There are 18 councils in Missoula and the charter was approved by Missoula voters in June of 1996. There are around 5- 7 members on each council. The Missoula charter was created to give the citizens a say in the government and other states have modeled their charters from Missoula’s Charter.
- Zoning Code Compliance
We head from the city zoning compliance staff. Members are working on a sensitive case in the South 39th st Neighborhood dealing with an alleged illegal occupation residence. Neighbors are learning about the steps to take when zoning ordinances are broken. First step is to file a complaint with the city zoning department. zoner@co.missoula.mt.us
- Hillview Crossing Development
A private owner has plans in the works for a 68 unit townhome development and is utilizing the townhouse exemption. Read more about it here: ftp://ftp.ci.missoula.mt.us/DEV%20ftp%20files/Urban/SubdRegUpdate/PBPresentation.pdf
There doesn’t seem to be a lot of support for this development. One fear I have for purchasers is private ownership of the townhouses. The city would not be responsible for upkeep and the new owners would inherit the maintenance.
The meeting wrapped up after some discussion and if you are interested, the average sales price in this neighborhood is around $228,000. Call or email us today for a Market Analysis on your home today
